After a week off because of the winter weather and cancellation of school, several parish teams were back in action in makeup games Monday night.
The Airline Lady Vikings and Parkway Lady Panthers continued to set the pace in District 1-5A.
Airline rallied for a 44-43 victory over Haughton in a thriller at Airline. Parkway rolled past Byrd 56-24 at Byrd.
Airline, which has won seven in a row, improved to 11-9 overall. The Lady Vikings lead the district at 4-0.
Parkway, which has won nine straight, improved to 16-6 and 3-0, one-half game behind Airline.
Airline hosts Huntington in another makeup game Wednesday. Parkway hosts Haughton Wednesday.
The Lady Panthers host the Lady Vikings Friday.
In the other District 1-5A games, Benton fell to Natchitoches Central 47-29 at Benton and Captain Shreve downed Huntington 58-54 at Huntington.
Elsewhere, Providence Classical Academy defeated Simsboro 63-47 at PCA.
At Airline Addison McDowell led the Lady Vikings with 23 points. Nia Williams added 11.
Skylar Branch paced Haughton (20-7, 2-1) with 14 points. Sariah Shannon added 11 and Bella Hammond nine.
Airline’s Ke’Zyriah Sykes scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Vikings rallied from a nine-point deficit.
Sykes hit the first of two free throws late in the game to give Airline the 44-43 lead. She missed the second and Haughton got the rebound.
The Lady Bucs missed a contested shot on a drive to the basket just before the final horn sounded.
Sykes also converted a three-point play after making a steal to give Airline a 43-42 lead.
Haughton took an early 13-3 lead and led 25-13 at the half.
After making only one 3-pointer early in the first half, the Lady Vikings hit three in the third quarter.
Even so, the Lady Bucs almost matched them baskets for basket and led 37-28 going into the fourth quarter.
Sykes hit a big 3-pointer from the baseline in the fourth. McDowell also stepped up with eight points.
At PCA, Adilynn DeLoach and Ella Grace Richardson the Lady Knights (18-12, 3-0 District 1-B).
Lauren Hillman scored nine. Emily Stephens and Alex Thaxton had nine each. Rhodes Mobley hit two 3-pointers.
