High school boys basketball: Bossier completes perfect run in 1-4A

The Bossier Bearkats completed a perfect run through District 1-4A with a 65-53 victory over Loyola Wednesday night at Bossier.

The Bearkats improved to 20-8 overall and finished 7-0 in district. Bossier has gone undefeated in district play two years in a row and won or shared nine straight district titles.

DT Thomas hit three 3-pointers and led the Bearkats with 20 points. Braylon Robinson added 16. Ron Dillard scored 13.

Bossier led 30-27 at the half and 44-41 after three quarters. Thomas hit two 3-pointers and scored eight in the fourth. Robinson scored seven to help the Bearkats secure the victory.

Keller Brown sank four 3-pointers and led Loyola with 18 points. The Flyers closed their season 11-17 overall and 3-4 in district play two.

Bossier is No. 2 in the non-select Division II power rankings. The Bearkats close the regular season Saturday at select Division III No. 1 Calvary Baptist (26/4) at 6.

Elsewhere, Benton fell to Minden 43-38 in a non-district game in Minden.

The Tigers (14-13) are No. 29 in the non-select Division I power rankings. The top 28 teams in the final rankings make the playoffs.

Benton closes the regular season at Quitman (23-4), the No. 3 team in the Class B power rankings, Saturday at 5. 

The Tigers limited the Crimson Tide (15-8) to just 10 points in the first half and led by 11. Minden rallied in the third quarter but Benton still led by two going into the fourth.  The Tide outscored the Tigers 17-10 in the final period.

Kam Smith and Idrick Ferguson led Benton with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
