High school boys basketball: Parkway downs Idabel on Day 3 of Parkway tournament

The Parkway Panthers defeated Idabel, Okla., 69-60 Friday on Day 2 of the Barksdale Federal Credit Union Parkway Invitational Basketball Showcase.

The Panthers evened their record at 5-5.

Five Parkway players scored in double figures. Caleb Evans had a team-high 18 points. He was 8-of-8 from the free throw line, including 7-of-7 in the second half.

Antonio Gladney and Jacob Gaskins scored 12 each. Tristan Sedberry added 10.

Evans and Kaleb Williams hit 3-pointers in the first quarter and Parkway led 15-12.

Williams and Gary Burney scored from behind the arc in the second. The Panthers led 33-30 at the half.

Evans scored eight in the third quarter as the Panthers extended the lead to 53-44.

Gladney, Gaskins and Evans all scored four in the fourth preventing Idabel from making a run.

The tournament concludes Saturday. Green Oaks faces Ringgold at 4 p.m. followed by Parkway vs. Woodlawn at 5:20 and Bossier vs. Idabel at 6:40.

Elsewhere, Benton fell to Avoyelles 55-52 in the ASH tournament in Alexandria. The Tigers dropped to 4-4.
