The Airline Vikings defeated Evangel Christian 46-40 in a District 1-5A game Tuesday night at Airline.
Elsewhere in 1-5A, a second-half rally fell just short as Parkway lost a heartbreaker to Huntington 62-60 at Parkway.
In the other 1-5A games, Benton fell to Captain Shreve 69-36 at Benton and Natchitoches Central defeated Byrd 76-34 at Byrd.
At Airline, Kevin White led the Vikings (11-9, 2-0) with 19 points. Jusdan Gladney added seven. Chase Williams, Rylon Bailey and Isaiah Cunningham scored six apiece.
Airline led 20-19 at the half.
White scored seven in the third, Gladney hit a 3-pointer and the Vikings led 34-27 going into the fourth.
Talean Adams led Evangel (5-12, 0-2) with 10 points.
At Parkway, the Panthers (9-8, 0-1) trailed by 15 points with about four minutes left in the third quarter. They rallied and cut the Raiders’ lead to just 43-37 going into the fourth.
Huntington (13-6, 2-0) remained on top and led 60-53 with 1:22 to play. Caleb Evans hit a short jumper to cut the lead to five.
Desmond Wright knocked down a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left. Antonio Gladney then intercepted a pass at halfcourt and made a layup to tie it at 60 with about 23 seconds left.
Huntington’s JD McDonald drove inside the lane and scored with 2.7 seconds left, giving the Raiders the win.
At Benton, the Tigers dropped to 9-10 overall and 0-2 in district. Captain Shreve improved to 13-7 and 2-0.
At Doyline, PCA dropped to 8-13. Doyline improved to 15-10.
