The Bossier Bearkats rolled to a 42-7 victory over the North Caddo Titans in their season opener Friday night in Vivian.
Junior quarterback Montrevell Lewis ran for three touchdowns and passed for two. Freshman running back Braylyn Williams had a good night. Sophomore cornerback Jaylen Bacon led the defense with two interceptions.
Lewis completed 15-of-25 passes for 194 yards. He also rushed for 126 yards on 13 carries.
Williams rushed for 132 yards on 14carries and scored a touchdown.
Jojo Rachel had five catches for 50 yards. James Cobb had four for 42. Jaylon James had two for 51.
Javeon Mitchell had three for 38 yards and a touchdown. Ron Dillard, the District 1-4A basketball MVP last season, caught a 38-yard touchdown pass.
“I thought we played pretty well on both sides of the ball,” Bossier Head Coach Gary Smith said. “Defensively. holding them to seven was big for us. Had a couple of picks and moved the ball pretty well.
“We’ve got to clean up some of the mistakes we made on offense. We had a bunch of bad snaps that we don’t usually have.”
Bossier hosts Glenbrook Thursday. The Apaches fell to Winnfield 20-6 in their opener Friday night.
Northwood-Lena 38, Plain Dealing 0: At Plain Dealing, the Lions fell behind early in their season opener.
Plain Dealing trailed 22-0 in the first half. The Lions hung tough in the brutal heat in the second half but were unable to mount a comeback.
Plain Dealing hosts Lakeview Friday. The Gators fell to LaSalle 54-13 in their season opener.
