High school football: Lewis shines but Bossier drops heartbreaker to BTW

Bossier sophomore quarterback Montrevell Lewis had another monster game, but it wasn’t quite enough for the Bearkats in their District 1-4A opener Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Booker T. Washington scored a touchdown in the final seconds to get within one then got a two-point conversion for a 42-41 victory.

Bossier dropped to 2-2. BTW improved to 3-1.

Lewis accounted for 450 yards total offense and six touchdowns.

He rushed for 245 yards on 31 carries and scored five TDs. He completed 12-of-21 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown.

Jojo Rachel had four catches for 105 yards.

Dewayne Robinson had two catches for 49 yards and the touchdown. Jaylen James had four for 29 and Jamez Cobb two for 25.

Demareya Bates rushed for 31 yards on nine carries,

BTW led 8-0 after the first quarter. Both teams scored three touchdowns in the second quarter and the Bearkats trailed 28-21 at the half.

The Lions led 34-28 before Bossier rallied to take the lead. 

Bossier plays Southwood Friday night at Independence Stadium. The Cowboys (2-1, 0-1) lost to Loyola 56-0 Thursday night.
