High school girls basketball: Five parish teams win

Plain Dealing, Bossier, Benton, Parkway and Providence Classical Academy won Tuesday night.

Plain Dealing defeated North Caddo 45-39 at North Caddo, Bossier downed Magnolia School of Excellence 59-22 at Magnolia, Parkway defeated Carroll 48-29 at Carroll and PCA routed Glenbrook 50-4 at PCA.

Elsewhere, Haughton fell to 2024-25 non-select Division II semifinalist Sterlington 64-50 at Sterlington.

At North Caddo, Jakayla Douglas scored 26 points to lead Plain Dealing. Brianna Newton added 15.

Douglas scored 16 in the first half and the Lady Lions led 29-24. Both teams struggled offensively in the third quarter and Plain Dealing took a 34-27 lead into the fourth. 

Plain Dealing (3-2) hosts Hornbeck Thursday.

At Magnolia, Orianna Edwards poured in 28 points to lead the Lady Kats. Adrianna Gooden added 15.

Edwards scored 14 and Gooden 13 in the first half as Bossier rolled to a 32-8 lead.

Bossier (2-2) hosts Byrd Monday.

At Sterlington, Skylar Branch paced Haughton with 20 points. Bella Hammond added 13 and Sariah Shannon nine.

Jayeelah Alford led Sterlington (5-1) with 25. She scored 18 in the first half as the Lady Panthers took a 35-21 lead.

With Branch scoring eight, the Lady Bucs got within five after three quarters.

Haughton (2-5) is playing in the Quitman tournament which begins Thursday.

At Carroll, Parkway improved to 3-3. The Lady Panthers are playing in the Showdown in the Lake which begins Thursday in Lake Charles.

At Benton, Benton improved to 5-3 with their fourth win in the last five games. The Lady Tigers are playing in the South Beauregard tournament which begins Thursday.

At PCA, PCA improved to 8-4. The Lady Knights are playing in the Converse tournament which begins Thursday.
