Airline sophomore Hudson Greene finished tied for second in the Division I boys state tournament Tuesday.
Greene shot a second consecutive 1-under par 71 in the second round on The Wetlands Golf Course for a final two-day total of 2-under 142. Neville’s Maddox Mowad, the co-leader after the first round, took medalist honors. He shot a 67 for a two-day total of 7-under 137.
Greene finished in a three-way tie with Mandeville’s Parker Greene, who shot a 67 Tuesday, and Jesuit’s Duke Nitcher, who shot a 70. The top four were the only players to finish the tournament under par.
Hudson Greene parred every hole in the front nine Tuesday. His only bogey was on the par-5 10th. He birdied the par-4 12th and par-4 17th.
Benton junior Grace Goodwin finished fifth in the Division I girls tournament. She shot a 3-over in the second round on the Le Triomphe Golf & Country Club course for a two-day total of 8-over 154.
Brusly’s Maci Williams successfully defended her title. She shot an even-par 73 for a two-day total of 3-under 144.
Walker’s Evelyn Artieta also shot a 73 and finished second at 1-over. St. Thomas More’s Tymber Joubert was third at 5-over.
Jesuit won the Division I boys team title at 11-over. St. Thomas Mote was second at 17-over.
Southside won the girls team title by eight strokes over Barbe. Benton finished seventh.
