High school track and field: Parkway’s Robin wins two events in state indoor meet, setting records in both

Parkway junior Brennan Robin won two events in the LHSAA Indoor State Meet in record-breaking fashion Saturday at LSU.

Robin won the Division I 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 14.97 seconds. He also took the 3,200 in 9:16.77.

Robin broke both the division and composite records in both events.

Airline’s Jayden Williams finished second in the 1,600 in 4:19.68. Jesuit’s David Quintana was second in the 3,200 in 9:19.03.

Parkway’s Ben Ruliffson finished sixth in the 3,200 in 9:36.30 with a strong kick. 

With Robin scoring 20 points and Ruliffson getting one, Parkway finished third with 31 points, one ahead of Destrehan and Zachary. That’s the highest finish in the indoor meet in school history.

Baton Rouge Catholic won with 77 points. Jesuit was second with 38. Airline finished seventh with 14.

Airline’s Shelby Ledet finished in a three-way tie for second in the Division I girls high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 3 inches. St. Joseph’s Kennedy Papillon won with a 5-9.25.

The Airline foursome of Jordan Williams, Lathan Woodland, Jayden Singleton and Jayden Williams finished third in the boys 4X400 relay in 3:28.20. Catholic won in 3:24.91.

Parkway’s Zaniyah Carter was fourth in the girls shot put with a throw of 37-7.25. Barbe’s Kaci Fulton won with a 42-3.5.

Benton’s Gavin Ellison took fourth in the boys long jump with a 20-10.75. Destrehan’s Richard Damien II won with a 22-5.

Parkway’s Drailyn Jackson was seventh in the boys high jump. Parkway freshman Caylee Weaver was ninth in the girls 1,600.

The Parkway foursome of Aiden O’Nishea, Braxton Thomas, Noah Lafitte and Javaria Flournoy finished seventh in the boys 4X800 relay.

Airline’s Woodland was eighth in the boys 400. Terrance Hays finished ninth in the boys long jump. Braylon Bryant was ninth in the 60 prelims.
