High school volleyball: Haughton improves to 3-0; Benton notches three wins in tournament

The Haughton Lady Bucs improved to 3-0 with a straight-sets victory over Neville Monday night at Haughton.

The score was 25-19, 25-23, 25-18.

Laila Clinton had 10 assists, three kills and two blocks. Imyni Caston had five kills and one block.

Mackenzie Poole had 21 digs and two aces.

Bella Van had four kills, two aces and one block. Maddie Polk had four kills and one block.

Lexi Coulson had seven assists and two aces. Camille Branton and Bella Hammond had three kills each. Branton also had three aces.

Olivia Huffstickler had four aces. Landry Stuart had five digs.

Haughton hosts defending District 1-I champion Byrd (5-0) Tuesday. While the teams are in the same district, it’s not an official district match.

The Benton Lady Tigers went 3-1 in the Episcopal Ascension tournament Saturday.

Tournament matches are best-of-3 sets. Benton defeated Ascension Episcopal and Lafayette Christian in three sets and Walker in two. The Lady Tigers lost to Catholic-New Iberia in two.

Benton (4-1) hosts West Ouachita Tuesday.

In other matches, Airline (2-1) hosts Calvary Baptist, Bossier (1-1) hosts Natchitoches Central and Parkway (1-1) hosts Caddo Magnet.
