The Parkway Lady Panthers and Haughton Lady Bucs opened District 1-I play last week with victories.
Parkway defeated Huntington three sets to none and Haughton downed Captain Shreve 3-2.
The Bucs and Gators split the first two sets. Haughton took the first 25-22 and Shreve the second 25-23.
The Bucs won the third 25-20. The Gators sent the match to a fifth set with a 25-20 victory in the fourth. Haughton pulled out a 15-12 win in the fifth.
Maddie Polk led Haughton in kills with 14. She also had seven digs, four aces and two blocks.
Lexi Coulson had 18 assists, six digs and three aces. Mackenzie Poole had 22 digs and four aces.
Bella Hammond had nine kills and two blocks. Laila Clinton had 13 assists, seven kills and five digs.
Imnyi Caston had four kills and three blocks. Camille Branton had five kills and four digs. Olivia Huffstickler had nine digs. Bella Van had six digs, three aces and three kills.
Haughton (8-7) faces Benton (19-5, 1-0) in a district match Wednesday.
Benton and Parkway (17-5) face off in a key district match Tuesday at Parkway.
Benton defeated Captain Shreve 3-0 last week but it was not a district match. The Lady Tigers also defeated Loyola 3-0 and won four of five matches in the Covenant Christian tournament.
Parkway defeated Airline 3-0 (non-district) and West Ouachita 3-0. The Lady Panthers went 4-1 in the Covenant Christian tournament.
The Lady Panthers visit defending district champion Byrd (19-4) Thursday.
Airline (6-13) dropped three matches in the Covenant Christian tournament. The Vikings open district play Tuesday at Captain Shreve.
Bossier (5-3, 3-2) defeated Woodlawn 3-0 in a District 1-II match.
Providence Classical Academy (1-7, 1-2) defeated Doyline 3-1 in a District 1-V match.
