Investigators Charge Caddo Inmate for Setting Fire in Jail

State Fire Marshal (SFM) deputies have charged a Caddo Parish inmate with Aggravated Arson for setting fire inside the Caddo Correctional Center in Shreveport.

On June 22, 2025, the Shreveport Fire Department requested assistance from the SFM to investigate a fire inside the jail. A SFM investigation determined that 20-year-old Zechariah Stutts of Shreveport set a fire inside an air vent at the Correctional Center in an area of the lockup where 17 other inmates were incarcerated. On July 8, 2025, SFM investigators charged Stutts with the crime.
