The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is set to host a public meeting to discuss its proposed 2024-26 hunting regulation notices of intent (NOI) on March 2 at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place virtually via Zoom, providing an opportunity for stakeholders and members of the public to weigh in on the proposed regulations.

To participate in the meeting, interested individuals are encouraged to register at the following link: https://wlf-la.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_toodgmbCQtWTJB15vPEr5g.

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission adopted notices of intent for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 hunting seasons, including regulations for general hunting and Wildlife Management Areas (WMA), turkey hunting, and migratory bird hunting, at its January meeting. These proposed regulations will be the focus of discussion during the upcoming public meeting.

For those interested in reviewing the details of the proposed hunting regulations, the 2024-2026 hunting regulation NOI can be accessed on the LDWF website at https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/resources/category/commission-action-items.

Public input on the notices of intent will be accepted until 4 p.m. on March 7. Comments should be directed to Tommy Tuma at the LDWF Office of Wildlife, either by mail at P.O. Box 98000, Baton Rouge, LA 70898-9000, by phone at 225-765-2349, or by email at [email protected].

This public meeting and the opportunity for public comment underscore LDWF’s commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement in the regulatory process. By providing a platform for public input, LDWF aims to ensure that the proposed hunting regulations reflect the interests and concerns of Louisiana’s diverse hunting community.
