Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler’s Prayer Lunch brought community members together Tuesday, Sept. 22, for an hour of fellowship, prayer and reflection at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office substation on Viking Drive.
The luncheon was sold out and featured U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson as the guest speaker.
The event began at 11:30 a.m. at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office substation, located at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City. The luncheon was an opportunity for local residents and community leaders to gather together in prayer and hear from one of Louisiana’s representatives in Congress.
Johnson spoke briefly about the upcoming election, but the focus of his remarks at the prayer luncheon was faith, God and the importance of the next generation.
Johnson spoke about the role of faith in guiding communities and families and encouraged those attending to keep God at the center of their lives and to consider the example being set for younger generations.
The message centered on the importance of passing faith and values on to children and young people and encouraging the next generation to remain grounded in their relationship with God.
The luncheon also provided an opportunity for attendees to spend time together outside of the political setting, with prayer and fellowship serving as the focus of the gathering.
Johnson, a Republican who represents Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District, currently serves as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
For those attending, the sold-out luncheon offered an opportunity to gather with others in the community, share a meal and spend time in prayer while reflecting on faith, family and the importance of preparing the next generation.
