Officials with DOTD have closed the Caplis-Sligo Bridge over Red Chute
Bayou due to structural damage.
The bridge, owned by the Bossier Parish Police Jury, has been closed since
July 4 after a Bossier Sheriff’s deputy reported a buckle in the structure. The
closure is ahead of schedule because the structure was scheduled to be shut
down for repair this October.
Contractors will officially begin the project by removing the bridge on
August 12. DOTD representatives say that, depending on weather and
material availability, the project will be completed in mid-2025.
Officials say the contractor will begin driving the bridge piles when ready
but anticipate the girders to arrive in January/February 2025.
