Optimum Honors Hispanic Heritage Month by Launching its Long-Running Student Essay Contest

Optimum, a leading provider of fiber internet, mobile, and TV services, is proud to announce
the start of its annual Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest across its service area. In honor of
National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is observed each year from September 15 to
October 15, the essay contest recognizes and celebrates the diverse histories, cultures, and
contributions of generations of Hispanic Americans across the country.

Available to all middle and high school students across Optimum’sfootprint, the essay contest
will run through Thursday, October 15 and boasts a total of four Grand Prize scholarships of
$3,000 as well as Honorable Mention prizes. This year’s prompt is:

Hispanic culture is shaped by many voices, experiences, and traditions that continue to
influence communities around the world. Whether through language, music, art, literature,
history, service, innovation, or everyday acts of community, people contribute to keeping
culture vibrant and meaningful across generations.

In 500 words or less, identify a Hispanic individual, work of art, historical contribution,
community organization, or cultural value that has inspired you or changed the way you think
about Hispanic culture. Describe what you learned from this influence and explain how it has
shaped your perspective, your goals, or your connection to your community.

Additionally, Optimum will recognize the educators who encouraged their students to
celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by submitting an essay. Special gifts will be awarded to
educators who sponsor the highest number of essay submissionsfrom theirstudents.

platform to reflect on the people, traditions, and experiences that connect them to Hispanic

recognizing the rich histories, cultures, and contributions that make Hispanic heritage so
meaningful in the communities we serve.”

Eligibility Requirements

Participants must be a student in grades 6-12 and attend a school in the Optimum service
area;

Participantsfrom all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are welcome to submit an essay;

Essay submissions must be written in English;

All essay submissions must be received by 11:59 pm EST on October 15, 2026.
