Parkway state champion Brennan Robin is planning to continue his running career at Oklahoma State.

Robin announced the commitment to sign with the Big 12 school on Facebook.

Oklahoma State won its sixth NCAA cross country title last year, finishing the season undefeated. OSU is ranked No. 1 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason National Coaches Poll.

Robin plans to compete in both cross and track for the Cowboys. He has enjoyed success in cross country and track since he was a freshman.

Last year, he finished second in the Division I cross country meet in Natchitoches. He was fourth as sophomore and 12th as a freshman.

Robin won the Division I 1,600 and 3,200 in the LHSAA Indoor Track and Field Championships meet in February. He broke the division and composite meet records in both events. He won the Class 5A 3,200 and finished second in the 1,600 in the state outdoor meet at LSU in May.

In the 1,600, both Robin and winner Conner Fanberg of Jesuit broke the class and composite meet record. Robin ran a 4:05.84 and Fanberg a 4;04.90. Robin ran a 9:07.40 in the 3,200.

In May, he ran an 8:46.75 in the 3,200 in the RunningLane Track Championships in Huntsville, Ala. He is the first junior in Louisiana to break the nine-minute mark. The time also is the second best in state history.

“Can’t do any better than committing to the #1 ranked XC team in the country!,” Parkway coach Kent Falting wrote in a Facebook post. “Couldn’t be more proud of Brennan for all his hard work and dedication, and I’m so excited to see him capture his dream! Now we’re going back to the lab to help him get a few more goals before he heads to Stillwater!”

According to MileSplit.com, Robin is scheduled to open his senior season Saturday in the elite division of the Coach T – Marcus Invitational Saturday at North Lakes Park in Denton, Texas.

MileSplit currently shows 416 entries.

Parkway is hosting its annual meet, The Border Dash, Sept. 12 at the South Bossier Recreational Complex.
