One of the country’s largest one day taco and tequila festivals returns to
downtown Shreveport on Saturday, May 2, with a larger geographic area and expanded
entertainment programs. The festival is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Presented by the Prize Foundation, Modelo Especial, Maestro Dobel, Caddo Commission, Delta
Utilities, and Ochsner LSU Health, Taco Wars will showcase 13 competing taquerias from
across the region. Taco Wars will also feature Mexican snack stands, a mercado area and free
live music by Mariachi Los Caporales and Quimikoz in Caddo Common Park, presented by the
Shreveport Regional Arts Council.
Taco Wars also features a world famous free salsa tasting where the public can try each salsa,
and vote for the Best Salsa at Taco Wars. Salsa voting will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. On top of
Best Salsa, each taqueria will be competing for the coveted Taco Wars Golden Taco award. This
will be judged by a panel of professional food judges and regional celebrities.
“Taco Wars is a love letter to the Latino community and one of the grandest celebrations of its
culture’s food, music and art,” said Gregory Kallenberg. “We are so proud to be able to present
this event, and we invite the entire community to one of the most delicious and fun festivals on
planet earth.”
No Taco Wars experience would be complete without tequila! Visit the crowd-favorite Casa de
Tequila to sample a curated selection of tequilas or enjoy freshly made margaritas. Ice cold
beer, water, and non-alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase.
In addition, families are invited to enjoy free arts and crafts inside the Municipal Auditorium.
Taco Wars is a great way for foodies to try new taquerias in the area and to support small
businesses. 90% of all food sales go directly back to the participating taquerias and food
vendors.
Participating Taquerias for 2026 include:
● Bazzar Mexicano
● El Novillo Meat Market
● La Potranca
● La Villa Taqueria
● Mi Mercadito
● Mi Meza
● Pedro’s Tacos and Tequila Bar
● Ramirez Mexican Restaurant
● Taqueria El Eden
● Taqueria Flores
● Taqueria La Reyna Del Sur

Free and open to the public, Taco Wars is more than just a food festival. It’s a celebration of
