The Louisiana Legislative Rural Caucus has elected Representative
Dodie Horton (R-Haughton) as Secretary/Treasurer for 2025-26.
With 80 members, it is the largest of the legislative caucuses and includes Senate and House
members from across the state.
“Serving as an officer in the Rural Caucus gives me an opportunity to help shape the future
of this state. This group can influence funding and major decisions that affect peoples’ lives,”
Rep. Horton said.
“I thank my fellow rural lawmakers for their trust in electing me to this position,” she added.
Joining Rep. Horton in leadership roles are the Chair Rhonda Butler (R-Ville Platte), and
Vice Chairman Dewith Carrier (R-Oakdale).
Horton, who represents District 9, was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015. She
serves on Labor and Industrial Relations, Vice Chair, Administration of Criminal Justice,
Appropriations, Elected Member of Legislative Bureau, Chair, Joint Legislative Committee on
the Budget and the House Select Committee on Women and Children.
