Sobriety Checkpoint Results in Multiple DWI Arrests

On June 19, deputies with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office joined troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G and officers from the Bossier City Police Department to conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the 900 block of Highway 80 in Haughton.

During the enforcement operation, 1,358 vehicles were screened and 2968 people were contacted thought the duration of the enforcement detail. Deputies also conducted traffic enforcement in the area, resulting in multiple citations and arrests for various traffic and criminal violations s to include but not limited to no child restraint, use of a telecommunication device when prohibited, simple obstruction of a Highway, and Possession of Schedule I.

A total of 24 Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, leading to five (5) DWI arrests. Additionally, two Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluations were conducted on suspected drug-impaired drivers.

This enforcement effort was made possible through a grant awarded to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and is part of the agency’s ongoing commitment to reducing impaired driving and enhancing roadway safety throughout Bossier Parish.

Sheriff Whittington would like to thank the Louisiana State Police Troop G, the Bossier City Police Department, and the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies who spent their evening working together to enhance roadway safety. Their commitment and teamwork play a vital role in removing impaired drivers from our roads and helping protect the citizens of Bossier Parish.
