The Bossier Parish Police Jury has issued a State of Emergency burn ban for all of Bossier Parish beginning Friday, January 2, at the request of parish fire chiefs. This action comes in response to increasingly dry conditions and the heightened risk of wildfires across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, rainfall amounts for the region have been well below normal throughout December, and forecasts indicate that above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation will persist through at least January 7.

“These conditions significantly increase the threat of fire danger,” said parish officials. “Until we receive adequate rainfall to relieve the drought, outdoor burning is prohibited.”

The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice. Residents are urged to comply with the ban and exercise extreme caution to prevent accidental fires.
