The men’s open singles semifinals in the City Championships tournament are set for Saturday at the Bossier Tennis Center.
Top seed and defending champion Michael Pereira of Shreveport faces No. 3 Steven Schwab of Monroe and No. 2 Jackson Hinderberger, a former Shreveporter, plays Wil Street of Shreveport. Both matches start at 4:30 p.m. They were originally scheduled for 11 a.m. but were pushed back because of rain.
Monroe’s Francis Altick, the two-time defending champion and No. 1 seed, advanced to the women’s open singles finals with a victory over Thereina Steencamp on Friday.
No. 2 seed Marta Stramkova of Minden will play the winner of Saturday morning’s match between Azul Malatini and AnneMarie Kimball in the other semifinal Saturday at 2 p.m.
The women’s singles final is Sunday at 10:30 a.m The men’s final is at 1 p.m.
The tournament features 22 divisions. Some champions have already been crowned.
Bossier Tennis Center director Todd Killen and his son Kevin won the father-son doubles. Shreveport’s Margaret and Kathryn Elberson won the mother-daughter doubles.
Shreveport’s Shelia and Sam Pernici won the mother-son doubles. Shreveport’s Adam and Sydney Young won the father-daughter doubles.
