The Bossier Parish Police Jury is proud to announce the long-awaited grand opening of Veterans Parkway, a key infrastructure project designed to enhance connectivity and improve traffic flow in the region. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, December 4, at 9 a.m.
Speakers for the event were Parish Administrator Butch Ford, Bossier Parish
Sheriff Julian Whittington, and Police Jury President Philip Rodgers. Each speaker
expressed their gratitude for the roadway’s opening and the effort invested to reach
this day. “This is a great day for Bossier Parish,” said Mr. Ford. “I want to thank
everyone who had the vision to see the need for this roadway and all the work put
into getting us to this day.”
As crews work diligently over the holiday weekend to finalize the project with road striping and cleanup, motorists are advised to expect delays along Swan Lake Road, which is being reconfigured to integrate with the new parkway.
The nearly four-mile stretch of roadway links I-220 at Swan Lake Road to LA Highway 162 via Crouch Road, providing a critical connection for commuters and enhancing access to local communities. The parkway, which represents a $22 million investment by taxpayers, took over two years to construct.
The reconfiguration of Swan Lake Road, tied to the parkway’s design, is expected to streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion in the area. Officials are asking motorists to exercise patience and caution during this transitional period as the final adjustments are made.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to attend the grand opening ceremony to celebrate the completion of this major infrastructure project, which promises to benefit the community for years to come.
