Middle school boys basketball: Elm Grove opens district play with sweep

Elm Grove opened district play with a sweep of Haughton Monday at Elm Grove.

The Eagles won the seventh-grade game 32-20.

Zven Ray led Elm Grove with eight points. He also had two assists and two steals.

Zavier Dorsey and Armaine Smith had five points each. Dorsey also had two assists, two steals and one block. Smith also had four rebounds.

Ben Williams and Corbin Marshall had six rebounds and four points each.

Holden Hardy, Jackson Tucker and Noah Houge also scored.

Chris Decuir led the eighth-grade Eagles with 10 points. He also had two assists and two steals.

Brylan Washinton added eight points. He also had five rebounds and two assists and two steals.

AJ Johnson had four points and three steals. Holden Knotts had four points and two rebounds. Shedarrien Horton had four points and two steals.

Sammie Lee, Christian Walter, Austin Zeidan, Tyson Zeidan and Michael Tucker also scored.

Elm Grove hosts Cope Thursday.
