The Village Water System has issued a boil advisory following a 4-inch water main break at the
intersection of Hwy 80 and Freight Entrance Road in Haughton.
The advisory affects residents and businesses along Hwy 80 from the site of the break extending east
to 10104 Hwy 80, including approximately 30 water connections. Among those affected is Eddie’s
Gas Station.
In response to the break, work crews from Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1
(CWSD #1) isolated the water main break in the impacted area to begin repairs. As a result, the water
service was temporarily shut off to the affected connections.
As a precaution, the boil advisory is being issued to ensure public health and safety. Residents and
businesses in the affected area are advised to boil all water for at least one full minute before
consuming, cooking, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation.
Water samples will be collected and submitted to the Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of
Public Health laboratory in Shreveport as soon as possible.
The advisory will remain in effect until water samples confirm that the water is safe to consume. An
official notice will be issued once the boil advisory is lifted.
