A new chapter in Bossier City government officially began Tuesday, July 1, as Mayor Tommy Chandler and the newly elected City Council were sworn in during a morning ceremony held at the Bossier Civic Center.
Mayor Chandler, who ran unopposed for his second term, took the oath of office alongside the incoming council members in front of a crowd of local officials, family, and residents. The event marked both continuity and change for Bossier City leadership.
The new City Council features a mix of returning and newly elected members. Returning to serve are Councilmen Chris Smith, Brian Hammons, and Vence Maggio. Joining them are four newly elected members: Councilwoman Debra Ross—making history as the first African American woman to serve on the Bossier City Council—and Councilmen Joel Girouard, Craton Cochran, and Cliff Smith.
The ceremony celebrated the peaceful transition of civic leadership and the promise of collaborative governance moving forward. With the new term officially underway, Mayor Chandler and the council now begin the work of shaping the city’s future in service to its citizens.
The event was open to the public, reflecting the administration’s commitment to transparency and community involvement.
