The Bossier Bearkats rolled past the Woodlawn Knights 42-20 Thursday night at Memorial Stadium.

Bossier, which ended a three-game slide, improved to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in district. Woodlawn dropped to 2-7 and 0-6.

Bossier closes the regular season next Thursday at No. 1-ranked and undefeated North DeSoto. The Griffins (8-0, 5-0) are scheduled to play undefeated Loyola Friday night at home.

Regardless of the outcome, Bossier will make the playoffs for the first time in Gary Smith’s three seasons as head coach.

Bossier is No. 20 in the non-select Division II power rankings. Of course that could change after the rest of Week 9 games are played.

The top 28 teams in the final rankings make the playoffs.

The four victories are twice as many as the Bearkats won on the field last year. (They had one forfeit victory.). The last time Bossier won at least four games was in 2021 when the Bearkats went 6-5.

Bossier had 366 total yards against Woodlawn. The Bearkats punted only once and kept mistakes to a minimum with just seven penalties.

Bossier sophomore quarterback Montrevell Lewis continued his stellar season.

He completed 10-of-13 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 116 yards on 12 carries and scored two TDs.

For the season, Lewis has accounted for 2,720 yards (1,398 passing, 1,322 rushing) and 33 touchdowns.

Jojo Rachal had four catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. Jamez Cobb had three for 46 Jaylen James had a 47-yard catch.

Ray Davenport rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown. Demareya Bates scored on a 9-yard run.
