The Krewe of Gemini gathered at the Krewe of Gemini Den on December 15 for its
Holiday General Membership Meeting, turning an evening of fellowship into a powerful display
of generosity for the Shreveport-Bossier community.
Members came together for a festive potluck meal and embraced the spirit of the season
by donating bags upon bags of new toys to Operation Santa Claus, helping ensure local
children experience the joy of Christmas morning. In addition, members donated an impressive
collection of nonperishable food items to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, supporting
families facing food insecurity during the holidays.
The meeting welcomed representatives from Operation Santa Claus, which has worked to
collect and deliver new toys to underprivileged children throughout the region for more than 40
years. Calvin Baker, President of Operation Santa Claus, expressed heartfelt appreciation for
the Krewe of Gemini’s continued support, noting that the krewe shows up year after year with
generous donations to help serve children in need.
“Our members have always believed that Mardi Gras is about more than parades and
parties, it’s about people,” said Captain Cole Guthrie. “Giving back to this community is at the
heart of who we are, and seeing our members show up with so much generosity during the
holidays is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
The Krewe of Gemini has a long-standing commitment to community service throughout
the year, with holiday initiatives serving as a cornerstone of its outreach efforts. The success of
the Holiday General Membership Meeting once again reflects the krewe’s dedication to making
a meaningful impact beyond Mardi Gras season.
