Bossier Police Local Union 645 continued its tradition of spreading holiday cheer Thursday December 18, 2025 with its annual Heroes and Helpers event, held at Target in Bossier City.
The community-focused initiative brought together Bossier City police officers, Bossier City firefighters, community partners, and volunteers to provide holiday gifts for local children and families in need. The event highlighted the commitment of first responders who stepped beyond their daily responsibilities to serve the community in a personal and meaningful way during the Christmas season.
Roughly 100 Children were selected for the program, with assistance from the Bossier Parish School Board, were paired with officers and firefighters who helped them shop for gifts, creating an evening filled with smiles, excitement, and connection. The event emphasized positive interactions between first responders and the families they serve, strengthening trust and community relationships.
Local businesses and community organizations supported the effort through donations and volunteer assistance, helping ensure the success of the event. Union leaders noted that Heroes and Helpers is about more than providing gifts — it is about building lasting connections and showing families they are supported by their city and its public servants.
Bossier Police Local Union 645 expressed appreciation to all sponsors, volunteers, and partners who contributed to the event, as well as Target for hosting the program. The annual Heroes and Helpers initiative continues to serve as a reminder of the impact collaboration and compassion can have during the holiday season.
