High school boys basketball: Plain Dealing ends long victory drought; Benton wins

The Plain Dealing Lions ended a long victory drought Tuesday night.

Plain Dealing defeated Pickering 73-72 at Pickering for its first victory since Feb. 7, 2024, a stretch of 35 games.

Elsewhere, Benton defeated Lakeview 50-48 in the St. Mary’s tournament in Natchitoches. The Tigers (8-6) also defeated Ebarb 68-44 Monday night.

Haughton fell to North Caddo 51-48 at North Caddo.

At Pickering, Jayden Ray hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Plain Dealing to the victory.

He led the Lions with 33 points, including 19 in the first half.

AJ Taylor added 13. Seventh-grader Koda Ward chipped in 10.

At North Caddo, Hayden Lippollis and James Alexander led Haughton (7-7) with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Henry Pyle scored nine, all on 3-pointers.
