High school boys wrestling: Parkway’s Normandin wins 165-pound class in Ken Cole tournament

Parkway’s Zayden Normandin won the 165-pound class in the Ken Cole Invitational Saturday in Lafayette.

Parkway’s Dylan Mesloh finished second in the 285-pound class.

Normandin pinned his first three opponents to reach the semifinals where he defeated Harrison Hudson of Sam Houston by a 16-11 decision. He then defeated William O’Neal of Lafayette 8-4 in the finals.

Mesloh pinned his first three opponents. He defeated Will Berry of Jesuit by a technical fall in the semifinals. In the finals, Mesloh was pinned by Romyn Cortez of Basile in 1:09.

Parkway’s Christian Gentry (126) and Avery Price (175) and Haughton’s Hunter Reeves (157) posted sixth-place finishes in their respective weight classes.

Parkway finished 13th out of 42 teams with 102 points. Haughton was 27th with 32.5.

St. Thomas More won with 247.5.
