Staff and volunteers with Keep Bossier Beautiful planted approximately 200 Christmas
trees in Cypress Black Bayou on Saturday as part of the organization’s annual
Treecycling event, an environmentally focused initiative that repurposes used trees to
create fish habitat.
The trees, donated by community members and local businesses, were collected after the
holiday season and placed in the bayou to provide shelter and breeding areas for fish and
other aquatic life. Each year, Keep Bossier Beautiful gives new life to discarded
Christmas trees through this hands-on conservation effort that benefits local waterways.
Volunteers worked throughout the morning to remove twine and tags, transport and stage
the trees, load boats, and secure the trees with sandbags before placing them in the water.
Despite the physically demanding nature of the project, teamwork and dedication ensured
the event was a success.
The Treecycling project highlights Keep Bossier Beautiful’s continued commitment to
promoting reduction, reuse, and recycling through creative and practical environmental
programs. The organization proudly carries out the annual event in partnership with
Cypress Black Bayou and the Bossier Parish Police Jury, helping protect natural
resources while engaging the community in sustainability efforts.
