The Bossier Bearkats opened defense of their District 1-4A championship with a 67-55 victory over Booker T.,Washington Thursday night at Bossier.
In District 1-5A, Airline dropped a tough 53-50 decision to Captain Shreve at Shreve, and Parkway fell to defending district champion Natchitoches Central 68-46 at Parkway.
Ron Dillard led Bossier (14-6) with 19 points. DT Thomas added 15. JD Davis had 10.
Dillard scored 12 in the first quarter and Bossier led 19-11.
BTW’s Jackson Bayes scored 10 of his 27 points in the second quarter and the Lions cut the deficit to 29-26 at the half.
Bayes scored 11 in the third and it was still a three-point game at 47-44 going into the fourth.
Thomas and Montrevell Lewis scored six each in the fourth as the Bearkats pulled away.
BTW dropped to 6-7.
Kevin White led Airline (11-10, 2-1) with 22 points. Isaiah Cunningham added nine and Jerrius Rhodes eight.
The Vikings trailed 12-4 after the first quarter. They rallied in the second, getting within 21-20. Shreve led 37-31 after three quarters.
Kameron Rivers scored 12 of his 17 points in the fourth as the Gators (14-7, 3-0) held on for the win.
At Parkway, Natchitoches Central (18-2, 3-0) extended its winning streak to 13. Parkway dropped to 9-9 and 0-2.
Elsewhere, Providence Classical Academy defeated Cedar Creek 45-27. The Knights improved to 9-13.
