Haughton rolled past Simsboro 17-2 Friday at Simsboro.
Elsewhere, Benton fell to 2025 non-select Division III runner-up Jena 2-1 in nine innings in its season opener at the Pineville tournament, and Airline lost to West Monroe 12-1 at Airline.
At Simsboro, Haughton’s Brianna Benecke went 3-for-3 in the three-inning game. Skylar Hogan went 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBI.
Reese Cunningham went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Brooklyn Ezernack and Charlee Prothro had two RBI each.
Kallie Sanderlin pitched two innings for the win. Prothro pitched a perfect third inning.
Haughton (2-0) faces Tioga at 1 p.m. and Ouachita Parish at 3 Saturday in the Ouachita Parish tournament.
At the Pineville tournament, the game was scoreless through eight innings. Benton scored one run in the top of the ninth. Jena tied it on a sacrifice fly with one out then won it with a single.
Benton sophomore Bayleigh Moniz, the District 1-5A MVP last season, allowed two hits, struck out eight and walked none in eight innings.
Jena’s Kiette Cooper, a McNeese signee and Class 3A All-State selection last season, pitched a no-hitter with 21 strikeouts and no walks.
At Airline, Airline’s Ainsley Hollis went 2-for-3. Haley Whiteside had a double.
