The Benton Lady Tigers defeated the Haughton Lady Bucs 5-3 in a District 1-5A game Thursday at Benton.
In another 1-5A game, Parkway fell to Natchitoches Central 12-4 at Parkway.
At Benton, Haughton led 3-2 through four innings. The Lady Tigers scored three in the bottom of the fifth.
Bayleigh Moniz doubled with one out in Benton’s fifth. Maggie Landman and Lainey Lafitte followed with back-to-back singles.
Moniz and Landman both went 2-for-4. Lafitte had two RBI.
Moniz struck out seven and walked one.
Haughton’s Presley Yerby went 2-for-3. Charlee Prothro had two RBI. Avery Smith and Clara Shaffer had one double each.
Benton (5-9, 2-0) is scheduled to play in the Stanley tournament next. Haughton (7-9, 1-1) hosts Evangel Christian Tuesday at 6.
At Parkway, the Lady Panthers led 4-2 through five innings. Natchitoches Central took the lead with three in the sixth then scored seven in the seventh.
Addison McCall went 2-for-3. Katie Giovengo went 2-for-4 with a double.
Parkway (7-6, 0-1) visits Weston Friday at 6. Natchitoches Central improved to 13-3 and 2-0.
