Human remains discovered earlier this month in Texarkana have been identified as a Bossier Parish man who had been missing since May, according to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.
In a news release, police said they were notified on June 11 of human remains found near the intersection of Delaware and Ray streets in Texarkana. The remains were transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for evidence processing and identification.
On June 18, investigators received confirmation through DNA testing that the remains belonged to Jonathan Bohrer, who was reported missing from Bossier Parish on May 6.
Bohrer’s disappearance prompted weeks of searching by both law enforcement and family members. His pickup truck was located on East Street in Texarkana on May 12, six days after he was reported missing. Since that time, authorities and relatives had continued efforts to locate him in the Texarkana area.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department expressed sympathy to Bohrer’s family and friends following the identification.
“While this is not the outcome we wanted, we hope that this confirmation will help bring closure and a degree of healing to the Bohrer family,” the department said in its statement.
Investigators are still awaiting findings from the Arkansas State Crime Lab Medical Examiner’s Office that could help determine Bohrer’s cause of death.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and are asking anyone with information related to Bohrer’s death to contact the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
No additional details about the circumstances surrounding Bohrer’s death have been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
