Late in the first quarter, the Parkway Panthers found themselves down 12-0 to the Class 2A Red River Bulldogs.
So how did the Panthers respond? They scored 56 unanswered points en route to a 56-12 victory Friday night at Preston Crownover Stadium.
Parkway improved to 2-1 with its second straight victory. Red River dropped to 0-3.
The Bulldogs scored on their first two drives. Damian Decaldecal got the Panthers on the board on a 52-yard run with 1:29 left in the first quarter.
Parkway took the lead for good on a short touchdown run by Braxxton Black with 4:57 left in the second quarter. He also scored the two-point conversion and the Panthers led 15-12 at the half.
Parkway scored quickly to open the second half and the Panthers extended the lead to 36-12 going into the fourth quarter. Dallas Loche scored on a punt return early in the fourth, his second kick return for a TD in as many games.
Black rushed 125 yards on 11 carries. Decaldecal had 75 yards on four carries. Kamron Love scored touchdowns on two of his three carries.
Bryston McCoy completed 9-of-21 passes for 147 yards and three touchdowns. Gary Burney had four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. Tristan Sedberry caught two touchdown passes covering 55 combined yards. Gabe Gray had two catches for 19 yards.
Thad Smith kicked six extra points.
Loche and Austin Zeidan had one interception each. Gabe Soileau recovered a fumble and had 10 total tackles.
Kaden Pugh had a team-high 11 tackles. Kam Davis had eight.
Parkway opens District 1-5A play Friday against Huntington at Independence Stadium. The Raiders lost to Evangel Christian 42-0 Friday night.
