At its regular meeting Wednesday, September 3, the Bossier Parish Police Jury advanced two projects that highlight both infrastructure planning and recreational growth.

Jurors voted to move forward with design work on a new northbound right-turn lane at the busy intersection of Airline Drive and Swan Lake Road. The project, to be handled by Neil Schafer Inc., was flagged as a priority during a recent capacity study of parish roadways. Officials noted that construction could begin as early as 2026, depending on available funding. Should costs exceed projections, the work may be postponed until 2027.

The project also includes a review of traffic signal changes to ensure the intersection can handle future volumes safely and efficiently. Jury members stressed that these improvements are part of a broader effort to ease congestion while supporting parish growth.

In other action, the Police Jury celebrated a milestone at South Bossier Park, where construction of a new walking trail has reached substantial completion. Built by Synergy Construction with state funding, the trail is now in its final stages of preparation. Crews are adding mulch and other finishing touches ahead of its official opening.

Drone footage of the trail has already been shared publicly, giving residents an early look at the new amenity. Once open, the path will expand outdoor recreation opportunities for families and fitness enthusiasts in South Bossier.

Together, the traffic and park projects reflect the Jury’s dual focus on improving quality of life and preparing for the parish’s continued growth.
