The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that 18 infrastructure projects across the state have received bids totaling $44.4 million in March, with a focus on improvements in Bossier Parish.
Among the awarded projects is Phase 2 of the intersection realignment of LA 3227 at LA 157 in Bossier Parish, which received an apparent low bid of $6,495,936.18. This realignment is expected to enhance safety and improve traffic flow at the intersection, addressing long-standing congestion and accident concerns in the area.
Another key project in Bossier Parish involves patching and resealing joints on LA 3 between LA 72 and Viking Drive, a crucial maintenance effort aimed at extending the lifespan of the roadway and improving driving conditions. The work was awarded with a low bid of $2,092,972.36.
In addition to the Bossier Parish projects, DOTD awarded contracts for bridge replacements, pavement overlays, drainage improvements, and safety enhancements across 14 parishes. Some of the highest-value projects include:
- Grading, overlay, and drainage on LA 3147 in Vermilion Parish – $5,667,263.95
- Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 13 in Acadia Parish – $4,694,424.92
- Milling, paving, and drainage on LA 24 in Terrebonne Parish – $3,999,991.33
Other significant projects include a bridge replacement in Lafayette Parish ($1.6 million), a sidewalk construction project in Jefferson Parish ($369,993.25), and maintenance on the M/V St. Francisville ferry ($2.4 million).
DOTD officials emphasized that project prioritization is based on road and bridge conditions, traffic volume, crash data, and the urgency of repairs. The apparent low bidders for each project will undergo a final review before contracts are officially awarded, a process that typically takes 30 days.
