Louisiana Tech Associate Director Strategic Communications Drew Parsley contributed to this report.
Former Benton star Thomas Allen helped Louisiana Tech open Conference USA play with a 5-0 victory over Delaware Friday in Ruston.
Allen, a freshman, entered the game in the eighth inning in relief of starter Declan Dahl with the Bulldogs on top 5-0. He allowed one hit and no walks.
Dahl also had an outstanding performance. He gave up just two hits, struck out eight and walked two in seven innings
“I couldn’t be prouder of him and Thomas Allen coming in and getting the last six outs,”Louisiana Tech Head Coach Lane Burroughs said. “It’s been a good recipe for us—Declan takes us deep into the game, and you use one of our relief guys and we went with Allen. They looked like they were having trouble handling right-handed velocity.”
Louisiana Tech improved to 11-8 overall. Delaware dropped to 8-10.
The teams continue the three-game series Saturday at 2 p.m. Game 3 is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday.
