A Bossier Parish Sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being seriously injured in an off-duty shooting that authorities described as a sudden and violent ambush, an incident that underscored his commitment to protecting others even while off the clock.
Deputy Jared Frazier sustained a serious ankle injury after being shot during the encounter. Both of his vehicles were also heavily damaged in the incident, adding to the toll of the violence. Despite his injuries and the danger of the situation, officials said Frazier acted with extraordinary courage, drawing attention to himself to divert the threat and ultimately preventing harm to four other individuals.
Those familiar with Frazier described his actions as consistent with his character and service record. Even while off duty, he placed himself in harm’s way to protect others, a decision that likely saved lives.
Frazier has since undergone surgery for his injuries and faces a lengthy recovery. Along with the physical challenges, he is now contending with significant financial strain stemming from medical expenses, vehicle repairs, and other personal property that was damaged or destroyed during the incident.
In response, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with the mounting costs as Frazier focuses on healing. Supporters say the fundraiser is intended to ease the financial burden during his recovery and to show appreciation for his selflessness and dedication to public safety.
The incident has prompted an outpouring of support from fellow deputies, first responders, and community members, many of whom have praised Frazier’s bravery and willingness to put others first.
As he continues his recovery, those close to Frazier say the support serves as a reminder that his actions did not go unnoticed and that the community he has long served stands behind him.
