High school baseball: Benton, Haughton, Parkway, Bossier win

The Benton Tigers, Haughton Bucs, Parkway Panthers and Bossier Bearkats all won Tuesday.

Benton defeated Many 12-2 in five innings at Benton, Haughton defeated Glenbrook 14-4 in five innings at Haughton, Parkway downed Quitman 13-4 at Parkway and Bossier routed Lincoln Prep 13-0 in three innings at its Rusheon Middle School field.. 

Elsewhere, Plain Dealing fell to Zwolle 14-2 at Plain Dealing and Providence Classical Academy opened its season with a 12-0 loss to Glenbrook in Minden.

At Benton, the Tigers (6-0) led 4-2 after three innings then scored eight in the fourth.

Slade Stephens, Bryson Gates, Garrett Clute and Nathan Sprankle all pitched. Many had four hits.

Benton had 10 hits. Kannon Greer went 3-for-3. Harrison Miller went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI. Brody Turnipseed went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Brandon McCarthy had two RBI. Case Jorden drew three walks.

Benton faces Archbishop Rummel at 4 and Ponchatoula at 7 Friday in the Ponchatoula tournament.

At Haughton, the Bucs (4-2) blew the game open with 10 runs in the second. Haughton had three singles in the inning and took advantage of four hit batters, four walks and an error.

Russ Barrett went 2-for-2 with two doubles. Troy Fielding went 2-for-2 with a double. 

Mason Anderson went 2-for-2 including a two-run single in the second. He finished with three RBI. Starting pitcher Landon Rolland had two RBI. Seth Jorstad had a double.

Rolland struck out four in two innings. Bryce Benoit didn’t allow a hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Brady Bockhaus allowed no hits and walked none in one inning.

Minden dropped to 4-1.

Haughton begins a three-game series against Sterlington Thursday at 5 at Sterlington.

At Parkway, Kirby Haskins went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Starting pitcher Colby Donaldson went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Peyton Rayner went 3-for-4 with a solo home run. Dallas Loche went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Jax Thomson went 2-for-4 with a double.

Donaldson allowed six hits, struck out five and walked none in four innings. Corey Paeth gave up two hits, struck out four and walked none in three innings of relief.

Parkway improved to 1-4. Quitman dropped to 3-3.

At Rusheon, Mike Thomas didn’t allow a hit in three innings. He struck out nine and walked two.

Tre Lindsey went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Laurynzoe Sampson had a double and three RBI.

At Glenbrook, the game was the season opener for PCA and first under new Head Coach Jordan Shaffer. Boston King and Joe Barrish had one hit each.
