The Haughton Bucs closed the regular season with a 3-2 victory over Jena Monday at Haughton.
In other regular-season finales, Airline fell to Cedar Creek 8-5 at Airline, Parkway lost to Alexandria 11-7 at Parkway, Bossier lost to Georgetown 17-0 at Georgetown and Providence Classical Academy fell to Oak Grove 15-0 at Oak Grove.
Plain Dealing lost both halves of a doubleheader at Dodson 2-1 and 7-6.
The LHSAA will announce official first-round playoff pairings Tuesday.
At Haughton, the Bucs led 3-0 through five innings. Jena scored two in the sixth.
Ashton Neighbors pitched the final 1 2/3 innings for the save. He didn’t allow a hit and struck out two with no walks.
Brady Bockhaus got the win. He gave up three hits in 5 1/3 innings, struck out five and walked three.
CT Woodard went 2-for-3 with a double. Seth Breen went 2-for-3. Carson Plant and Drake Cooper has RBI-singles. Troy Fielding scored a run with a sacrifice fly.
Haughton (20-14) is No. 18 in the non-select Division I owner rankings and will likely be on the road in the first round of the playoffs. Jena dropped to 16-18.
At Airline, the game was tied at two through four innings. Cedar Creek took a 6-2 lead with one in the fifth and three in the sixth.
The Vikings rallied with two in the bottom of the sixth, cutting the deficit to two. But the Cougars answered with two in the top of the seventh.
Leo Heng went 2-for-2 with a double. Brock Jordan went 2-for-4 with a double. Jack Henry Smith went 2-for-4. Drake Bellew had a double.
Airline (20-12) is No. 17 in the non-select Division I rankings. The top 16 teams in the final rankings host first-round playoff series. Cedar Creek improved to 25-5.
At Parkway, the game was tied at 3 through six. Alexandria scored four in the seventh.
Dallas Loche went 2-for-4. Jax Thomson had a double a drew two walks.
Parkway closed its season 14-19. Alexandria improved to 21-9.
At Plain Dealing, Cade Demoss went 3-for-4 with a double in the first game. He also struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings.
Bo Bailey went 2-for-3 with a triple in the second game. Ja’marion Baker-Shepard and Colton Smith both went 2-for-3.
Plain Dealing (12-15) is No. 23 in the non-select Division IV power rankings. The top 24 teams is the final rankings make the playoffs.
Providence Classical Academy closed its season 10-18. Bossier finished 7-11.
