High school baseball: Tough start for parish teams as season gets underway

It was a tough start to the season for parish teams Monday.

Haughton fell to Alexandria 7-3 at Alexandria, Airline lost to West Monroe 8-4 at Airline, Parkway fell to Cedar Creek 15-3 in Ruston and Bossier lost to Northwood-Lena 19-1 at Northwood-Lena.

At Alexandria, the Trojans scored all of their runs in the first three innings.

Carson Plant went 2-for-3. Seth Jorstad had an RBI-double. 

Haughton hosts Glenbrook Tuesday at! 5 p.m.

At Airline, the Vikings led 3-2 after three innings. West Monroe tied it with one in fourth then took the lead with two in fifth. The Rebels added three in the seventh.

West Monroe had 10 hits. Airline had four. Crew Chandler went 2-for-3.

Airline plays Glenmora in the Sulphur tournament Thursday at 7.

At Cedar Creek, Parkway trailed just 2-0 after four innings. But the Cougars scored six in the fifth, three in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Parkway had five hits. Brady Prine and Dallas Loche had one double each.

Parkway starter Ryan Waits allowed two hits, struck out two and walked three in three innings. Cedar Creek starter Kade Luker, one of the state’s top pitchers, allowed two hits, struck out eight and walked one in four innings.
