The Bossier Bearkats clinched the District 1-4A championship and the Airline Vikings ended Natchitoches Central’s 18-game winning streak Friday night.
Bossier routed North DeSoto 62-29 at Bossier. The Bearkats (20-7, 7-0) have a two-game lead with just one district game left at Loyola Wednesday. Bossier has now won outright or shared nine straight district championships.
Airline rolled past Natchitoches Central 64-44 in Natchitoches. The Vikings
prevented the Chiefs from running the table in District 1-5A. Natchitoches Central entered the game No. 3 in the non-select Division I power rankings.
In other 1-5A games, Benton won its third straight, defeating Evangel Christian 43-40 at Evangel, Haughton fell to Huntington 72-41 at Haughton. Parkway lost to Captain Shreve 63-54 at Shreve.
Natchitoches Central (23-3, 7-1) and Huntington (18-8, 7-1) finished tied for first. Captain Shreve (16-9, 6-2) finished third. Airline (14-13, 5-3) finished fourth.
At Bossier, DT Thomas led nine Bossier players who scored with 21 points. Ethan Dodson scored nine all on 3-pointers.
The Bearkats led 24-13 after the first quarter and 37-18 at the half,
Bossier, which went into the game No. 1 in the non-select Division II power rankings, plays non-select Division I No. 2 Ruston Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Woodlawn.
At Natchitoches Central, Kevin White poured in 29 points to lead the Vikings. Eli Washington hit three 3-pointers in the first half and scored 13. Jusdan Gladney chipped in 10.
Airline limited the Chiefs to 13 points in the first half and led by 12.
White scored 10 and Rylon Bailey sank two 3-pointers in the third quarter, helping Airline extend the lead to 43-26.
White was 8-of-12 from the free throw line and scored 12 in the fourth.
Airline visits Calvary Baptist Thursday.
At Evangel, Benton improved to 13-12 overall and finished district play 4-4. Evangel dropped to 8-15 and 3-5. The Tigers close the regular season Wednesday at Minden.
Maddox Martinez led Benton with 17 points.
At Captain Shreve, Parkway fell to 12-13 overall and finished district play 2-6. The Panthers face Red River Saturday at 1:30 at Woodlawn.
