High school boys basketball: Bossier completes 3-0 run in ‘Doc’ Edwards Memorial Invitational; Benton wins

The Bossier Bearkats completed a 3-0 run in the “Doc” Edwards Memorial Invitational tournament with a 61-49 victory over Union Parish Saturday at Airline.

In other Edwards games, Benton defeated Jonesboro-Hodge 58-22 and Airline fell to Junction City, Ark., 37-36.

The tournament used a round robin format this year.

Ron Dillard led Bossier (8-3) with 16 points. TJ Bunnery added 10. Jaden Davis chipped in eight. Braylon Robinson and DT Thomas scored seven each.

The Bearkats led 16-4 after the first quarter and 29-11 at the half.

Airline’s game against Junction City was vastly different from the Vikings’ two other high-scoring games in the tournament.

Jerrius Rhodes and Kevin White led Airline (8-5) with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Airline led 12-9 after the first quarter and 19-17 at the half. The Vikings took a 31-29 lead into the fourth quarter but Junction City rallied for the victory.

Benton improved to 6-5 with its victory.
