Veteran Terry Josting is coming back for his second stint as head boys basketball coach at Haughton., according to a post on the school’s official Facebook athletics page.
He replaces Robert Price, who stepped down after four seasons.
Jostling, a coach and educator for more than 30 years, was the head coach at Haughton from 2019 until 2022. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. He still coached while getting treatment and only missed two weeks of the season.
Josting stepped down after the season but remained at the school as a teacher.
He started his coaching career in 1991 as the head girls coach at Bossier. He also served as an assistant with the boys squad.
He left for his alma mater Parkway in 1997. He was a boys assistant coach before taking the head position. His 199-2000 team won 32 games and reached the Class 4A quarterfinals.
After spending 14 years at Parkway, Josting went to Lakeside as an assistant basketball and football coach for one year.
He followed that with a move to Southwood where he was a boys basketball assistant for one season. The next year he served as a girls assistant before taking the job of head coach when 10-time state champion Steve McDowell stepped down.
He was the head coach for four seasons before going to Haughton.
