High school boys soccer: Benton, Parkway win district openers; Airline, PCA post victories

The Benton Tigers and Parkway Panthers won district openers Tuesday night.

Benton routed Huntington 8-0 in a District 1-I match at Bossier’s Memorial Stadium. Parkway downed North DeSoto 3-0 in a District 1-II match at Preston Crownover Stadium.

Elsewhere, Airline defeated Caddo Magnet 4-3 at Airline Stadium, Haughton fell to Sterlington 5-2 at Harold E. Harlan Stadium and Providence Classical Academy defeated North Caddo 8-0 at North Caddo .

Benton improved to 6-5-1 overall with its victory. Parkway improved to 3-6-2.

At Airline, freshman Dylan Johnson scored three goals to lead the Vikings. Junior Funez had one goal and one assist. Oscar Pacheco had two assists.

Airline, which suffered its first loss Monday to Calvary Baptist 4-2, improved to 5-1-1.

At Haughton, Tyler Warren scored two goals for the Bucs and Ethan Osbon had two assists.

At North Caddo, Colt Gregg led PCA (3-0) with three goals and one assist. Andrew Brewer scored two goals.
