The Parkway Lady Panthers and Captain Shreve Lady Gators face off in the championship game of the “Doc” Edwards Memorial Invitational Saturday at 6 p.m. at Airline.
In Friday’s semifinal games, Parkway (7-5) defeated defending champion Airline 60-46, and Shreve (8-2) downed Benton 66-41.
In quarterfinal games earlier Friday, Benton defeated Summerfield 56-33, Parkway downed Mansfield 55-43 and Captain Shreve defeated Neville 61-54.
In a consolation game, Plain Dealing fell to Union Parish 48-47.
Adria Parker and Kenadie Loche led Parkway with 12 points each. Jasmine Hendrix added 10. Zara Baker and Samahri Garrette scored nine each.
The Lady Panthers hit seven 3-pointers. Parker and Baker had two each. Garrette, Hendrix and Khia Thomas had one apiece.
Parkway sank four from long range in the first quarter en route to a 21-10 lead. The Lady Panthers led 34-19 at the half and 46-30 after three quarters.
Ke’Zyriah Sykes led Airline (2-6) with 25 points. Nia Williams added 13.
Lainey Lafitte led Benton (8-8) against Shreve with 14 points. Kryshna Bostic hit three 3-pointers and scored 11.
Shreve’s Malia Taylor sank six 3s and scored 22 points. Leah Bryant chipped in 15.
Bella Wiese knocked down three 3s and led the Lady Tigers against Summerfield with 15 points. Lafitte added 12 and Cylah Grigsby 11. Arden Smith had 11 rebounds
Bryant and Shiloh Brokenberry led Shreve against Neville with 18 points each.
Jakayla Douglas paced Plain Dealing with 25 points. Kamauriya Player added 10.
The Lady Lions (5-7) played without standout Brianna Newton who suffered an injury against Mansfield Thursday.
Elsewhere, Haughton extended its winning streak to seven with a 66-18 victory over St. Mary’s in the Many tournament. Skylar Branch led eight Lady Bucs who scored with 16 points, all in the first half. Bella Hammond scored all 13 of her points in the first half.
Aliyah Delaney and Sariah Shannon scored 10 each. Haughton (9-5) plays Pleasant Hill Saturday at noon.
