The Haughton Lady Bucs and Benton Lady Tigers won District 1-5A games Tuesday.
Haughton defeated Parkway 18-8 at Parkway, and Benton defeated Byrd 15-0 at Benton.
Haughton (14-3, 5-1) hosts Natchitoches Central (20-6, 6-0) Thursday at 6. The Lady Bucs will move into a tie for first with a win. Benton (12-13, 5-1) will also have a share of the lead if Haughton wins.
With only last-place Huntington left, the Lady Chiefs will virtually clinch the championship with a win.
In another District 1-5A game, Airline fell to Evangel Christian 4-3 at Airline. In a non-district game, Plain Dealing routed Green Oaks 17-1 at Plain Dealing.
At Benton, Bayleigh Moniz pitched a four-inning one-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks. She also hit two home runs and had seven RBI.
Lainey Lafitte had a home run and double. Olivia Livers had two hits.
At Parkway, Haughton’s Skylar Hogan went 4-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI. Avery Smith went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI.
Brianna Benecke went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Brooklyn Ezernack went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
Reese Mayfield had two hits. Clara Shaffer had three RBI. Presley Yerby had two.
Parkway’s Izzy Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBI. Addison McCall had two doubles. Madison Menard had two RBI.
Parkway (9-12) hosts Winnfield Monday at 5:30.
At Airline, Evangel scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-1 lead. A Lady Vikings rally in the bottom of the inning came up just short,
Taylor Smith scattered five hits, struck out seven and walked three.
Ainsley Hollis and Mauriana Holcomb had one double each.
Airline (13-10, 2-3) visits Byrd Thursday at 6. Evangel improved to 11-12 and 4-2.
At Plain Dealing, Bailey Fisk, Ravin West and Kylie Welch had two hits apiece in the three-inning game. Welch had a home run, double and three RBI.
Bailey Fisk, Ravin West, Emory Young and McKenna Fisk all had doubles. Bailey Fisk had three RBI. Ravin West and Ryelin West had two RBI each.
McKenna Fisk and Alainah Brooks combined for eight strikeouts.
Plain Dealing (14-3) hosts Mansfield Monday at 5:30. Green Oaks dropped to 0-5.
